Welcome to the Waterloo Gardeners (WG). We are still the Waterloo Horticultural Society that has been part of the community and since 1895. Our programs and activities are for anyone who is interested in gardening.
our next meeting - october 27, 2017
At our October meeting, Crystal Bradford and Liam Kijewski will be talking about Gardening for Wildlife. Crystal and Liam are the owners of Wildlife Gardening near London Ontario. Their goal is to attract or deter wildlife in a natural and humane way. Please visit their website for more information
In their presentation they will talk about the amazing biodiversity in Southern Ontario and the pressure on it due to humans. They will discuss techniques and garden styles that are suitable for attracting wildlife to a yard. A portion of the talk will feature well behaved native plants that are great for wildlife. Several of the gardens that they will feature are from the KW area. Some of the other topics Crystal and Liam will address include pollinators, native shrubs and trees, invasive species, Carolinian species, and rain gardening.
The last competition of 2017 will also take place at the October meeting. The complete schedule is posted on our competition page. www.waterloohort.org/competitons.html
