There are many ways that we are looking for ways to help the environment by reducing the amount of waste that we produce.
  • Gardeners can choose native plants to suit their environment which when established with thrive with minimal need for special care and watering.
  • By asking other gardeners for advice we can avoid costly mistakes resulting in replanting.
  • Give freely – gardeners are a generous bunch so share the wealth and look for freebies at the curb or via social media.
  • Harvest your dinner! Vegetable gardeners can grow their own and reduce packaging and transportation as well as improving quality.
  • Return Plastic pots- many nurseries recycle plastic pots so ask when you are buying.  Reuse trays or bins when shopping.
  • Make your own mulch from composed leaves- your garden will thank you.  Rescue items from friends and neighbours and give them a new home.
Waterloo Gardeners strives to be zero-waste move by distributing our newsletter by email.
