Extended to June 30!

Picture

Our first winner is Jacob, age 5! The yellow flower makes him feel like singing, and his song is

You Are My Sunshine

Watch this space for next week's winning drawing and song!

Aviya is our second winner, she's 9 years old! While she draws, she sings!

Oh Happy Day!

Will you be our next winner?

We know our young gardeners are already out in the garden, enjoying the early spring flowers and thinking about the fresh strawberries and apples soon to come. Along with their love of the natural environment, we would like to help them to develop an appreciation of the Arts.
To this end, Waterloo Gardeners, in collaboration with the K-W Symphony Volunteer Committee, presents a drawing challenge for young gardeners in Kitchener-Waterloo up to the age of twelve. Entries will be welcomed until the end of June 2021 and the drawings will be displayed online in June and July. Here’s how it works:
  • Draw a picture of a garden you like in Kitchener or Waterloo. It can be in your own or someone else’s yard, or even a public garden. The drawing can show the whole garden or a small part that’s your particular favourite. You can draw with crayons, markers, pastels, or anything else you have at home. It must be your own, original drawing that has never been published before.
  • Give your drawing a name - name it after a song or music piece that reminds you of your garden.
  • Take a photo or a scan of your drawing and have your parents email it to waterloogardeners@gmail.com.
  • We will need the following information in the email:
    • Your drawing and the name of the song or music piece
    • Permission from your parents to post your drawing and song title on the Waterloo Gardeners and the K-W Symphony Volunteer Committee websites
    • Your age
    • Your first and last name (let us know if you want only your first name to appear online)
    • Only one entry per child per week.
  • When we receive your drawing by email, we will enter your name in a draw. One name will be drawn each Saturday in July and the winner will be contacted. Each winner will receive an Herb Garden, a Granite Percussion tambourine and, provided by the K-W Symphony, a voucher for a Family Concert in the fall.
